People’s Historians Online

In support of middle and high school teachers while school buildings are closed, the Zinn Education Project is hosting online people’s historians mini-classes. The “People’s Historians Online” sessions were launched in late March and early April with historians Jeanne Theoharis and high school history teacher Jesse Hagopian.


NAEYC Virtual Institute

Starting June 1, NAEYC will offer six weeks of newly recorded presentations to support professional development. The Virtual Institute is open to anyone who is interested in some of the latest research and best practices in early childhood education at no charge as our gift to you for all that you give to young children and their families. Learn more.


National Geographic Online Courses

National Geographic’s free online courses for educators equip teachers with powerful tools to transform their classrooms. Courses are open to any educator from anywhere in the world who works with students in either a formal or informal setting. In many of our courses, learners can earn graduate credits through our university partnerships. Learn more.


Mondays with Michelle Obama Read-Along

Join PBS Kids for “Mondays with Michelle Obama.” Mrs. Obama will read books on the PBS KIDS and @penguinrandom Facebook pages and the PBS KIDS YouTube Channel. Learn more.


Levar Burton Reads

Join a thrice-weekly Twitter live stream show, where Levar Burton will read various short stories. On Mondays (at 12 p.m.), it’ll be children’s literature, on Wednesdays (6 p.m.), young adult fare, and on Fridays (9 p.m.), stories for adults. https://twitter.com/levarburton

DC Public Schools #StayHomeDC

DC Public Schools now hosts new learning at home video lessons for K, 1st and 2nd graders! Tune in each morning on TV or catch up on @YouTube to learn with DCPS teachers. Watch “Fun with Phonics” with your child each day on DKN or at http://youtube.com/dcpublicschools. K-2 early literacy lessons will air this week from 9:30 to 11:00 am on the following DKN channels:

Learning Doesn’t Stop - Lessons on TV

The Washington Teachers’ Union in collaboration with Fox 5 Plus (WDCA) features 30-minute lessons for learners of various grade groups. Mondays include lessons  for early childhood learners and 1st graders; Tuesdays are for 2nd and 3rd graders; Wednesdays are for 4th and 5th graders; Thursdays for 6th, 7th and 8th graders; and Fridays for 9th through 12th graders. March lessons included hands-on investigations sink vs. float, read-alouds, decomposing large numbers(mathematics), visual art, graphing, and U.S. Immigration Policy.
