Teach Central America Introductory Workshop

ABOUT THIS EVENT

2:00 PM EST/ 11:00 AM PT — 3:15 PM EST/12:15 PM PT

More than four million Central Americans reside in the United States and migration from the region is headline news. However, most schools teach very little about Central America, including the long history of U.S. involvement in the region.

Teaching for Change is preparing for the second annual Teach Central America Week to encourage and support teaching about Central America. Join us for a free introductory workshop to learn more about the national campaign, explore teaching resources, and hear from guest speakers.

This lesson is designed to introduce students to several of these concepts through brief biographical sketches of figures in twentieth-century Central American history. Participants will experience our Introductory mixer lesson virtually and have the opportunity to ask questions with content experts Dr. Ingrid Colón, Education Research Program Manager at UnidosUS, and Eric Hershberg, Director of the Center for Latin American and Latino Studies at American University.
