Join the United States Mint, the National Women’s History Museum, and DC Public Library to celebrate the life and legacy of Reverend Doctor Pauli Murray and commemorate the release of the 2024 Pauli Murray quarter, the eleventh coin to be released in the U.S. Mint’s American Women Quarters™ Program.

Before or after the event, guests will have a chance to tour NWHM’s special exhibition highlighting Pauli Murray at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library, We Who Believe in Freedom: Black Feminist DC.

Pauli Murray is regarded as one of the most important social justice advocates of the twentieth century. Murray was a staunch advocate for the rights of women and people of color and fought tirelessly for civil rights. As a poet, writer, activist, organizer, legal theorist, and priest, Murray was directly involved in, and helped articulate, the intellectual foundations of two of the most important social justice movements of the twentieth century. Learn more about Murray’s life and legacy during this special celebration, which will include remarks, the short film Pauli Murray, and a panel discussion.
